Sept 2006 - The
ever modest Adrian Petry (Barnaby in Hello Dolly, Bye
Bye Birdie) sends along the following note:
Dear Greely Family ... (And various fan groups...)
Adrian has finally decided on a university. Some of you may have
known that he was looking at lots of different institutions, including
local ones so he could stay and act with Greely. However,
unfortunately for his Greely Family....and his many, many, many,
infatuated fans... he has decided to go on a 5 year HIATUS to pursue a
BA History (Minor in Geography) / Education at BROCK University in St.
Catherines. After this 5 year hiatus, Adrian has no idea where he will
end up. I know this is shocking news and that many of your are
probably screaming at your computer screens ... " HOLY
CABOOSES!" ..." WOOOOOW!". Anyway... If he does end up
back in the Ottawa area though, he will most definitely return to his
Greely Roots.. (he didn't actually grow up in Greely...he's one of
those Russell people....you know that infiltrated the group a few
years back). Thanks for the wonderful memories and great times we've
all had together! I will see you at your new show in March/April.
Break a leg...hopefully the left one.

Sept 2006 - Earlier this summer Kyle Gillespie (L'il
Abner, The
Music Man, Anne of Green Gables, Bye Bye Birdie) was
one of the nominees for the Ottawa Cappie awards. Kyle writes:
Although I did not win the award at the Cappies Gala it was an
honour just to be recognized. I owe it all to the Greely Players for
taking me in and helping me develop into the person I am now, both on
the stage and off the stage. The gala was really amazing and fun. The
nominees were allowed to use the actors changing rooms back-stage at
the NAC. During the ceremony, my school presented a small section from
the play. It was really incredible to be able to perform on an NAC
stage. St. Mark was nominated in 10 categories including best play. We
walked away with 2 awards- lighting and stage crew.
In the fall I will be heading off to study at Guelph. I will
be majoring in marine and freshwater biology. It will be a big change
moving away from home but I am looking forward to it.
Thanks so much for everything over the years. I will always
treasure the great memories from my Greely Players shows and will miss
all the amazing people I met along the way. Break a leg with future
shows!
Kyle Gillespie
